Automate employee offboarding
Updated this week

A typical employee offboarding process requires HR or managers to submit tickets containing details of the user to be offboarded. This is followed by IT deactivating user accounts and removing access across various systems.

This manual process can be time-consuming and prone to oversight. Multiplier streamlines this process by automating account deactivation in your identity provider directly from Jira Service Management.

1. Create a JSM request type to capture this request:

2. Navigate to the workflows screen, and Edit the workflow that maps to this request type.

3. Find the appropriate transition in your workflow where you want the deprovisioning to occur. This is typically either on issue creation or after an approval step, when the request status changes to indicate the offboarding should proceed. Select this transition and add the Multiplier trigger action as a post function.

4. Select Deactivate User as the action and map the necessary fields from your JSM request to the required fields in your identity provider. This ensures the correct user account is identified and deactivated. You can also add additional actions such as resetting their MFA and removing them from any groups.

5. Click on Add and then publish your workflow.

Automated offboarding using Multiplier and JSM significantly reduces the time and effort required to process departing employees while ensuring consistency and security. By following this guide, you can implement a streamlined offboarding process that maintains security standards and reduces administrative overhead.
